Engineered hardwood from Carpet Concepts

Engineered hardwood flooring is produced by laminating several of hardwood together, with each layer being perpendicular to the one above and below it. Layering like this gives hardwood added strength and stability. Just like regular hardwood, engineered hardwood comes in a wide variety of colors, stains, lengths and widths.Engineered hardwood floors can be installed in more places than regular hardwood floors, even below grade in your basement, because they can withstand the expansion and contraction that is associated with higher humidity.

Engineered hardwood flooring

Engineered hardwood floors combine the look of solid hardwood with today’s technology to offer several benefits, including:
  • Easier and faster to install than traditional hardwood
  • Offers greater stability under humid conditions such as in kitchens
  • Suitable for condominiums and basements and any installation over a concrete slab
  • Allows for wider and longer planks which is great for larger spaces
  • Radiant heat compatible
  • Can be nailed, stapled, glued or floated

In addition, engineered hardwood floors have several environmental benefits over standard hardwood floors, as well. Engineered hardwood floors use half as many trees as solid wood floors, and wood from faster growing, renewable trees is used for inner plies.
