Luxury Vinyl Tile Grows in Popularity
Depending on how old you are, you may think the phrase “luxury vinyl tile” is an oxymoron. Luxury and vinyl in the same sentence? Really?
Yes, really. Luxury vinyl tile, or LVT flooring is growing in popularity. Manufacturers like Mohawk and Shaw offer the look of hardwood floors, stone floors or ceramic tile in a vinyl application. If you’ve always wanted hardwood floors, but real hardwood is not in the budget, LVT or its cousin luxury vinyl plank (LVP flooring) is the perfect solution.

LVT and LVP flooring also offers a lot of flexibility design-wise. Along with wood and stone looks, there are graphic patterns, block colors and unusual textures also available such as mosaic pebbles or indented steel panels. In addition, as vinyl plank flooring is often installed as a floating floor, it also offers less permanent flooring solutions than the authentic materials. This is a huge plus for people looking to upgrade in a few years, or looking to save money on renovations.
For all of these reasons, luxury vinyl planks and tiles are now being featured in all areas of the home. Vinyl was once considered only suitable for less visible areas of a house like the laundry room, or in areas where you would expect its durability and water resistance to be useful like kitchens and bathrooms, but now people are using it everywhere!
